Great news for those of you involved with the Amazon FBA program or those of you that have an Amazon management team! Amazon has started a Repackaging Service for Fulfillment By Amazon sellers for returned items. If the item is still in sellable condition, but the box or package was returned damaged or open, your item qualifies for the service!
Sellers are auto-enrolled into this service. If you feel you do not want this feature for whatever reason you can disable it per category or altogether. However, if you choose to not use the service, be aware that returned items that have open or damaged packaging will be moved to “unsellable inventory.” Here you will have to remove or dispose of the item at your cost.
The qualified items will be repackaged in a Poly-Bag, Bubble Wrap, or Boxing of Amazon’s choice. Once repackaged, the item will be considered “new” and can be sold as such.
Not every product or category is supported. Below you will find the eligible categories:
Lawn & Garden
Business, Industrial, and Scientific Supplies
Word on the street is, as new categories become available, you will be auto-enrolled into each. There is also no mention of any cost to the seller for this service, which is a huge bonus. Items that would have otherwise been considered a loss or partial loss now have the opportunity to make you money!
