What Does Google Think?
Google insists that Facebook and Facebook SEO is not part of their web ranking algorithm. Why does the Search Engine Optimization community think that they are connected? Google’s top secret algorithm historically works on links. Tons of pages are shared on Facebook or Tweeted about. Facebook has high quality content because people only share pages with their friends that are interesting. Facebook also is associated with high quality brands and people engage with well known brands on Facebook. Facebook is a “super-metric”.
Will Facebook Make Me Rank Better on Google?
It may not move your website higher but it is very possible to get promotion links, tweets, shares, and still indirectly get people to your website or start a dialogue and contribute to your brand recognition. Being active on Facebook can’t hurt your brand. It is recommended to post at a bare minimum every 21 days so that your fans know your account is still active and that you are still in business. Make sure to include photos or videos!
