00:03 – Citation basics – A citation is an instance of your Business Name, Address, and Phone Number store somewhere on the internet. Consistency is paramount when doing citations first and foremost. This is due to the more accurate and consistent your citations are, the better Google and other search engines can accurately and confidently display your information. If your citations are differentiating, the less confident search engines are at displaying your information to the public. Examples of places you should use accurate information are: Phone bills, utility bills, estimates, invoices, business cards, Facebook, yelp, yellow pages, your website and anywhere else you can think of. The more accurate, the higher your ranking will be on Google and other search engine result pages.
00:21 - Why Do Online Reviews Matter for A Local Business? – Reviews not only help your online presence, but also build trust in viewers, which essentially converts into sales or clients. The more positive reviews you have the more Google and other search engines will rank you as well. For Google, if you have less than 5 reviews, your gold star rating does not publicly show. However once you surpass 5 reviews, the pretty gold stars will show up publicly. Facebook reviews for your business are becoming increasingly powerful for online presence.
00:32 – Review Guidelines – They key here is to not fake any of your reviews, but find creative ways to push your clients and customers to leave you a review on not only Google, but places like Facebook, Yelp and other places. Google and yelp have filters setup to block out reviews that are either fake or generated by yourself, family, or business employees in hopes of artificially boosting your ranking. However, when you generate genuine reviews, they are amazing for your online presence. 00:47 – Meta Data – To view the back-end of your site and what meta data you might have already or not already setup, Right click a margin of your webpage and hit “view source” or “view source code”. Things to look out for are the meta Title, Meta Description and Meta Keyword
00:52 – Meta Title – The title of each of your webpages can be set by the meta title. Picking a meta title that is compelling and sells your business is the most beneficial. Instead of being general or just your business name, something along the lines of: “Upscale hair stylists in a modern facility at amazing prices” is much more enticing than “hair stylist and salon” –
